![]() ![]() ![]() Prepares and inspects winter equipment-maintains snowplow equipment, cutting edges and sanders and clean equipment post storm.Maintains roadways for snow and ice control: removes snow from roadways and shoulders opens and widens roadways of large accumulations of snow removes snow from rights of way or yards applies anti-icing and de-icing chemicals on stretches of highway under slippery conditions removes frozen ice and material from culverts and performs night or dawn patrols.Assists the Plant Monitor to ensure materials meet specifications and requirements.Monitors the work of contractor personnel to ensure compliance with established processes, practices, and specifications.Performs and implements inspection processes so that test failures are corrected.Measures, computes and documents pay items to ensure proper payment for work done under the contract.Checks the dimensions and tolerances of constructed roadway features to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.Reads and interprets plans and specifications to ensure contractor compliance.Performs the construction materials acceptance tests (such as gradations, density, air, beam, cylinder and slump) in the field as required to ensure quality of materials.Obtains representative samples of bituminous, concrete, aggregate, grading and base materials and performs appropriate tests to ensure quality assurance.Under general supervision these positions will perform moderately difficult duties related to Contract Administration (roadway and/or bridge construction) and assists in the maintenance and operation of snow and ice control to ensure safe and clear roadways and related work as required.
